A sudden collapse of over 6000 cu.m land and rocks have been cutting traffic route on the national road No. 24 in the mountainous district of Ba To, Quang Ngai province, vice-chairman of district people’s committee Mr. Tran Ngoc Thuong said Monday morning.
The landslide happened due to last week prolonged heavy rain across the province.
Local government and Department of Transportation mobilized hundreds of people and machines to temporally clear the road.

As said by Mr. Thuong, 150 ethnic minorities are under high risks of landslides in areas of mountainous slits.

Currently, some roads under construction in the province are also damaged seriously.

For lowland district of Nghia Hanh, landslides along the Ve river are likely to hit around 100 households in the zone.

It is reported that heavy rains within two days in the weekend caused two fishing boats sunk, 41 houses broken and some roads flooded and isolated.

In Son Tinh district, 26 households in low-lying areas are also moved to safe places.
