Frequent landslides threaten village
6/13/2012 10:33:56 AM
A major landslide that brought down hundreds of cubic meters of soil and debris occurred yesterday in the area of Chieng An hamlet, Chieng Sinh commune in the province's Tuan Giao District, threatening the security and livestock of hundreds of households.
It appeared that there were lots of cracks in the mountains close to the spot where the landslide occurred, which could cause future accidents.
Quang Van Binh, a resident in Chieng An hamlet, said he heard a signficiantly loud noise similar to an explosion when the incident occurred and he saw hundreds of cubic meters of soil, debris and falling trees piling up on the ground of his neighbours' homes.
According to local residents, landslides frequently happen in the area, especially posing threats to children who play nearby. No injuries were reported.
